Page 3 - GB GYMNASTS APPEAR AT THE BRISTOL INTERNATIONAL
THE SCENE IS SET FOR THE BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Bristol International was a great opportunity to assess preparation for the British Championships at the end of March and to perfect routines in a high quality field as well as giving guests from other countries valuable International experience. We particularly enjoyed the return of Spelthorne in their first competition since last year’s World Age Groups where they produced an incredible 8 World Champions for Great Britain! Their new partnerships across every discipline look extremely promising, whilst all eyes were on Katie Axten and new partner Liz Oliver who looked terrific despite a surprise drop on one of their balances. Both Mens Pairs were simply stunning and had the audience on the edge of their seats as they combined high quality choreography with perfect execution, as they lit up the whole Competition, with the crowd cheering some truly memorable performances. Sadly Sam Sturt broke his arm just days before the Competition which meant that the new Mens Four could not compete against the current World Champions from Bromley, but the boys told Gymnastics Online of their dissapointment at having to withdraw and that they are now looking forward to their first competition later this year.
And page 3 of our Photo Special opens with Rachael and Poppy from Harefield with their new routine first performed at the British Tournament in November, terrific choreography from Tasha Maxwell and the Harefield Coaches makes good use of the girl’s dance and expression. Sadly illness forced the Junior Harefield Trio to withdraw but we look forward to seeing them at British as the scene is set for another great year in British Sports Acrobatics.
