Page 8 - Spelthorne’s new partnerships debut at the British Championships!
For many Acrobatics fans in the U.K. this was their first opportunity to see some of the new Spelthorne partnerships who were making their first British Championships appearances. And what a debut as many of them stood proudly on the Podium demonstrating once again, the strength in depth at one of Europe’s leading Acrobatics Clubs.
Just 12 months ago, Katie Axten and Christian Beecher won the British 12-19 Junior Mixed Pairs Title and won the International Age Groups Championships Title, and after Christian’s retirement, Katie made her first British Championships appearance in the Senior ranks with new partner Liz Oliver. After an uncharacteristic fall at the Bristol International, the girls performed superbly to comfortably win the British Title with new elements and an improvement on their Bristol debut, to score 27.53 in their balance, and 28.07 from a SV of 9.87 in Tempo for a total of 55.60, and 27.02 in the Combined. This gave Liz and Katie a margin of more than 4 points ahead of Richmond’s Tania Noble and Bibi Passmore, and showed promise of a great future for the new partnership.
In the Senior Womens Groups, 2 of the 2006 British Champions Leanne Turner, Emily Collins have retired after achieving 5th place at the Senior 2006 World Championships. And it was great to see Emily and Leanne at British cheering on former partner Victoria Lamkin with the 2006 IAGC Silver medalists Emily Grove and Casey Morrison, as they produced a stunning Balance routine to score 28.307 from a 10.007 SV. The girl’s Tempo was one of the highlights scoring 27.95, and their Combined score of 27.702 was comfortably ahead of the Silver Medalists, and make them worthy winners of the 2007 British Senior Womens Title.
