BRITISH ARTISTIC CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006

BECKY DOWNIE WINS AA BRITISH JUNIOR TITLE!

PLUS DOUBLE BRITISH TITLES FOR BECKY AND DANUSIA IN APPARATUS FINALS!

Individual Apparatus Gold for Becky Downie from Notts Gym Club who became British Junior Champion on Vault with a score of 13.975. The Silver went to Hannah Clowes from City of Liverpool with 13.875, and bronze to Laura Jones from Notts with 13.650.

The second Individual Apparatus gold for Becky Downie who won the British Junior Title on Floor with a fantastic routine with great tumbling and artistry to earn 14.700. Abi Kirby from City of Liverpool won the Silver Medal with 14.250 and Liverpool team mate Hannah Clowes collected bronze. 

This was Becky’s third Gold Medal at the Championships after the 2005 British Espoir Champion won the British All Around Junior Title with a total score of 56.60. Hannah Clowes from City of Liverpool won the Silver Medal in the All Around with 55.300. Rebecca Wing from Heathrow won bronze with 55.250. Rebecca also won the Joan Jackman Trophy for the top scorer on Beam with 13.75. Marissa King from Huntingdon finished in 4th position with a great performance on all apparatus. Laura Jones from Notts placed 5th in the All Around qualifying for all 4 Apparatus Finals. Zoe Allen from Wigan finished in 6th place with another good performance including 3rd place on Beam and 4th on Vault in the All Around.

All three Junior overall Medalist’s were members of the 2006 British Team at the European Championships who claimed the 5th position in Volos.

The BBC were also filming a documentary at the British Championships which will follow the British gymnast’s progress over the next 2 years on the road to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  

Notts make it 3 British Apparatus Gold’s as Laura Jones wins the British Junior Beam Title with a terrific performance which won huge applause as Laura received 14.000. The Silver Medal was won by Marissa King from Huntingdon with 13.300 with Liverpool’s Abi Kirby receiving bronze for her 13.100.

In the Espoir Individual Apparatus Finals Danusia Francis from Heathrow won the British Espoir Floor Title with a great routine to earn 14.050 and the highest score in the Espoir Apparatus Finals. The Silver Medal was won by Jordan Lipton from Notts to add to her British All Around Title with 13.300. Bronze went to Nicole Hibbert from Heathrow with a score of 13.150.

The second Gold of the British Championships for Danusia as she wins the British Espoire Title on Beam with a fine performance and a score of 13.800. Second place and the Silver medal for Chelsey Orme from Notts with 13.100, and equal third and bronze medals for Sydney Elliott - Money from Woking and Nicole Hibbert from Heathrow who tied on 12.700.

Heathrow win their third Individual Apparatus Gold as Nicole Hibbert wins the British Espoir Vault Championships with a high difficulty beautifully executed vault to earn 13.825. Silver goes to Heathrow team mate Danusia Francis with 13.350, and bronze to Jordan Lipton from Notts who scored 13.025.   

The British Espoir A-Bars Title is won by Niamh Rippin from Notts with a score of 12.500, a great performance from Niamh. The Silver Medal went to Bethany Munns from Park Wrekin with 11.800 with Heathrow’s Nicole Hibbert collecting bronze..

Winner of the Max Sime Award for Aritistry at the British Championships Alex Perry from Park Wrekin for her Floor routine.
