GENEVA CUP 2006 - 14 GOLD MEDAL’S FOR KING EDMUND IN 5 NATION TOURNAMENT!

King Edmund Acrobatics Club produced some excellent results at the Geneva Cup in a 5 Nation International Club competition which included gymnast’s from England, Italy, Hungary, Wales and the host’s from Switzerland.

Many of the gymnast’s were competing abroad for the first time so King Edmund were delighted to bring home a total of 14 Gold Medal’s in a competition which also included Horsham from Great Britain. Both Club’s produced some fantastic routines and we have an exclusive report from Maiken Thorne on the Geneva competition plus some great Podium shots of King Edmund and the Horsham gymnast’s. GENEVA CUP 2006 REPORT BY MAIKEN THORNE

14 gold’s won in Geneva by King Edmund gym club. This was an excellent weekend for all. Wayne & Elliott scored the highest scores of the day, and the spectators were amazed with the fantastic performance which included excellent difficulty and technique, and they were rewarded with a 9.8 by one of the judge’s.

Maiken & Mollie performed excellent routines which gave them the second highest scores of the day, foreign coaches commented about their faultless routines and enquired about their future competitions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Hannah & Beatrix had a beautiful routine but unfortunately had a couple of errors which took them just out of the medals position, but a great routine by both girl’s.

Douglas & Shelley performed a wonderful routine they had a couple of time faults but still managed to come in 1^st position. Kaman & Tasha performed their balance routine first, where they were unfortunate to make an error, but they recovered well, and in the tempo routine they had the highest score out of the mixed pairs which put them in 3^rd position overall. Horsham’s Matthew Bennett and Isis Clegg-Vennell won the Silver Medal’s to produce a clean sweep in the Mixed Pair’s for the British Club’s.

Chester & Danny performed a very good routine which put them in first place in the men’s pairs but they were unlucky not to win a medal as they had to compete against men’s mixed and women pairs in their level.

Suzie & Emma performed really well to win well deserved gold medal’s after producing the best routine they have performed so far as a Women’s Pair. Suzie Sophie & Emma came 2^nd but unfortunately they could not take the medal as Emma & Suzie had already won a medal in this category.

Pippa, Charlie & Anna performed a sweet routine with no major faults and the judges awarded them the Gold Medal’s. Pippa & Anna also came 2^nd but sadly they couldn’t take the medal as they had already won the Gold medal with Charlie.

Emily, Kayleigh & Katie performed really well their individual’s were much improved and they were thrilled to take home the gold medals.

Chloe & Georgia both performed an excellent routine, which gave them a gold medal. This was Georgia’s first gold medal so a very good achievement and she never took it off the whole trip!

All the gymnast’s, coaches and judges had a wonderful time. Well done to every one. Thank-you to the organizers of this event.
