Page 6 - GOLD AGAIN FOR RUSSIA IN WOMEN’S GROUPS 12-19 FINALS!

SILVER MEDAL JOY FOR USA AT INTERNATIONAL AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS!




	The Russian challenge grew stronger as the 12-19 Women’s Groups Qualifications began with Ekaterina Shiker, Maria Ekhlakova and Yulia Shushkina scored 28.50 in their balance and 28.85 in Tempo for a total of 57.350. Their closest challengers were the British Trio of Katie Smith, Ciara McGrath and Jessica Dangerfield from Harrow who were making their International debuts. In the Finals the Russians won the 12-19 Title convincingly scoring 28.80 in their excellent combined routine, with the USA collecting Silver, and Belgium winning the bronze medals. Great Britain finished in 7th position with a terrific e debut from Katie, Jess and Ciara.




	An excellent opening day saw the USA Trio of Nicole Summers, Karilynn Rockhill and Melissa Summers qualifying in 3rd position with a score of 56.450. The girls improved on their 3rd place to claim the Silver Medals for the USA with a score of 28.400, just 0.40 off the Gold Medal place.




	Belgium have a fine tradition in top level acrobatics, and this continued with a very close contest with the Russian and USA Women’s Groups. Chloe Alliett, Kim Van Gampelaere and Florence Henrist won the Bronze Medal in the 12-19 WG Finals, with a score of 28.300, and only one tenth of a point behind the U.S. girls who won the Silver!

				The Polish Women’s Group produced a 7th position performance to qualify for Finals, and Klaudia Mul, Agnieska Muron and Justyna Krzysik must have been delighted with their combined routine which lifted them into 5th place in Finals scoring 27.600.

A fabulous performance from the British Trio of Katherine Smith, Ciara McGrath and Jessica Dangerfield put them into 2nd position in Qualifications with a score of 56.500, and closely pressing the Russian Trio. Their impressive debut continued into Saturday’s Finals as the Harrow girls scored 27. 500 to finish in 7th place at their first IAGC Finals!

A special mention too for GB’s Natasha Johnston, Emma Storey and Amber Webster who finished in 5th position at Qualifications but did not make Finals as only one couple or group from each country can qualify for Finals! Well done girls, a fantastic performance and we’re all very proud to have 2 Women’s Groups in the top 5 at the International Age Group Championships!




	Completing the top 8 Finalists, the home crowd roared on Rosa Rocha, Maria Silva and Ana Pereira from the host country of Portugal. The fantastic home support continued into Sunday’s Finals with the Judges awarding 26.850 and an 8th place for the Portuguese group.

GB’s Natasha Johnston, Emma Storey and Amber Webster also qualified in 5th place but could not compete in Finals due to the one group per nation rule.
