WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MEN’S TUMBLING FINALS

TWO NEW WORLD RECORDS FOR WANG JIEUX!

A sensational performance from China’s Wang Jieux as he broke two World Records in his first run! His pass of linked flick and whipped two full twisting double straight somersaults to full in full out created a new record score of  40.4 and highest difficulty of an incredible 13.6, a full 2.4 more than team mate and silver medallist Chen Yang! Both men led yesterday’s Qualifiers, and there was no-one to match the artistry and supreme technical ability displayed by the Chinese. They have raised the bar again for others to follow and Wang Jieux is a worthy World Champion.

The World Games winner Jozef Wadecki from Poland scored 75.70 to take the bronze medal, and Great Britain’s Damin Walters placed 5th with a score of 70.30. Nicolas Fournials from France was thought to be a contender for a medal position but his score of 63.30 reflected a nervous performance finishing in 7th place. Casey Finley from the USA had attempted a 3 double somersault combination of full in straight with whip to double straight but stopped after a short landing in yesterday’s Qualifiers and placed sixth in today’s Finals in front of an enthusiastic audience.

A memorable final and a worthy new World Champion!
