CHINA AND RUSSIA, IT COULD NOT BE CLOSER! GB WOMEN’S TEAM MISS FINALS BY 0.10!
In the women’s qualifying rounds, it could not have been closer as the British Women missed qualifying for the Finals by just one tenth of a point! Hannah Lewis had to withdraw after injuring her back in the final training session yesterday, and the reserve Natalie O’Connor had to fly in just hours before the competition, and did well to perform good routines. However Claire Wright was unfortunate to stop during her second routine after finishing 3rd in her compulsory, and must have been so disappointed after a terrific performance. It was pure misfortune for Claire who won Silver in the British Championships, and has consistently performed well for GB. The British team narrowly missed qualifying for Finals as Ukraine took 5th place by 190.20 to 190.10, and the girls did a fantastic job at World level, and were very unlucky not to qualify. The top 2 had a gripping competition as power houses China and Russia both scored 196.80 with China taking first place due to the higher execution mark. They will be joined in tomorrow night’s finals by Germany, the USA, and Ukraine in what promises to be a fantastic battle for the World Title!
